I don't have much formal training as a writer and it's hard for me to pinpoint my influences. I do have a lot of real-world experience, which in my mind is far better anyhow.

However, flannel has been a notable influence on my work. It would be very difficult for me to write if I couldn't wear flannel at least some of the time.

Bill Brent is the author of two nonfiction books: MAKE A ZINE! (Microcosm Publishing, 2008) and THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ANAL SEX FOR MEN (Cleis Press, 2002), which was published in French as LE PLAISIR ANAL, pour lui (Editions Tabou, 2006).

Bill's fiction and essays appear in anthologies ranging from EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT GOD IS WRONG to ENTANGLED LIVES: MEMOIRS OF 7 TOP EROTICA WRITERS. His short erotic fiction appears in dozens of books, including THE BEST AMERICAN EROTICA 1997, BEST GAY EROTICA 2002 and 2004, TOUGH GUYS, ROUGH STUFF plus its sequel, ROUGHED UP, BI GUYS, and FIVE-MINUTE EROTICA, vol. 2.

Bill completed a novel in early 2008, but he hasn't published it yet. He co-edited the BEST BISEXUAL EROTICA series with Dr. Carol Queen, the second volume a Finalist in the 14th Lambda Literary Awards.
